Statement of Faith

PNCN is first and foremost a Christian organization.   We are not promoting unity of all religions, but rather unity within the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.  We seek to be inclusive of all who can “amen” our statement of faith and have a desire to see our city transformed for the glory of God.

Statement of Faith (rev. 10/13/08)

We believe that the Bible is God’s authoritative and inspired written Word which is without error in all it contains. As such, Christians must submit to its Divine Authority, both individually and corporately, in all matters of belief and conduct as demonstrated by true righteous living.

We believe in one God, Creator, Maker, Sustainer and Lord of the universe, the Eternal Godhead who has revealed Himself as ONE God existing in THREE persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; distinguishable but indivisible.

We believe that Jesus Christ, God’s eternal Son, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary atoning death on the cross, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended to Heaven. Whereas He is truly God and truly man, he is the only
mediator between God and man.

We believe that all people are born as sinners, separated from God, and cannot see the Kingdom of God except through salvation, which is by grace, through repentance and faith in the blood of Jesus Christ and in His perfect and sufficient work on the cross of Calvary by which we gain forgiveness of sins.

We believe in one holy, universal church, known as the Body of Christ. Its calling is to worship God, to witness concerning its head, Jesus Christ, by preaching the Gospel among all nations and to  demonstrate its commitment through evangelism and compassionate service to the need of human beings, and promote righteousness and justice through discipleship.

We believe and celebrate the two ordinances given to the church, water baptism and communion, which are for believers in Jesus Christ.  We believe in water baptism of believers as the first act of obedience and submission to the commands of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the Table of the Lord, commonly called Communion or the Lord’s Supper, and that this practice helps us remember the death, the life and the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe in the Spirit-filled life, a life of separation from the world and perfecting holiness in the fear of God as an expression of Christian faith, and that the equipping of the baptism in the Holy Spirit is essential in fulfillment of the believer’s witness; both in word and in deed.  We further believe His power and gifts are available to believers today.

We believe that Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return in glory to raise the dead and bring salvation and judgment to completion. God will fully manifest His Kingdom when He establishes a new Heaven and new earth, in which He is glorified forever, excluding all evil, suffering, and death.
